Digital Benefits Network Community Norms

A note on recording and confidentiality:

Most of BenCon is not being video or audio recorded, but we will have notetakers in each session, and activities where sharing ideas, experiences, and dialogue are encouraged. Please share as much as you are comfortable with. We will check back in with individuals before any quotes or identifiers are published in recaps or elsewhere.

Beeck Center Event Code of Conduct

The Digital Benefits Network is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or political affiliation. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

When attending an event hosted by the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation at Georgetown University all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and participants agree to follow this code of conduct (“Code of Conduct”).

UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR

Harassment, bullying, microaggressions, intimidation, and/or insinuations that are hurtful or interfere with any other attendee’s experience or participation are unacceptable behaviors.

Harassment includes but is not limited to: offensive verbal or written comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion; sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation; stalking; following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact; unwelcome sexual attention; unwarranted exclusion; and patronizing language or action.

The Beeck Center reserves the right to determine what constitutes unacceptable behavior.

CONSEQUENCES

Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated at Beeck Center-sponsored events. Anyone asked by a Beeck Center staff member to stop engaging in unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a participant continues to engage in harassing behavior, the Beeck Center may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from Beeck Center network activities, events, and digital forums.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please email beeckcenter@georgetown.edu or digitalbenefits@georgetown.edu. You will receive a response from a member of our staff.

We value your attendance and hope that by communicating these expectations widely we can all enjoy a harassment-free environment.
